Cortisol Rush translates the biological "fight or flight" response into a frantic survival mechanic that directly embodies the competition theme: Losing Control. You play as a young wizard fending off an endless vampire horde where every action fills a Cortisol Meter that fundamentally alters the game's physics. While low levels offer precision, the core challenge lies in the inevitable surge toward the "Rush" state, where your character gains extreme power but becomes erratic and nearly impossible to steer. This mechanical shift forces you to grapple with a literal loss of autonomy, turning your own physiological success into a chaotic liability. To survive, you must strategically scavenge Stabilizing Drops to regain composure before your lack of control leads to a fatal collision with the mounting horde. By gamifying the internal struggle of a stress response, the game creates a high-stakes loop where the greatest threat isn't just the monsters, but your own inability to stay in command.
